someone was talking to me about 2 employees she hired who wanted to do well for their kids but they simply did not have the basic work skills: show up on time (show up at all!), dressing appropriately -- minimal work skills that can make the difference between getting ahead in life or remaining at the bottom. mentors should be people who've made it as: assistant managers, small business owners, admin assistants, head cashiers, working moms. not CEOs: real workers who've made a success as a "normal" worker.
